Despite the importance of soil surveys as a fundamental source of information for planning soils and maintaining, the vastness of the Brazilian territory and the high costs involved in traditional surveys have so far precluded the production of detailed soil maps, and led to the use of digital-mapping methodologies. This research carried out a digital mapping of the soils linked to high quality coffee crops in the municipality of Carmo de Minas, as a sample of the micro-region of Serra da Mantiqueira (Mantiqueira Mountains), state of Minas Gerais, to provide data for a Geographic Indication (IG) seal in the Designation of Origin (DO) modality. The soil distribution model for this area is a result of an association between the morphometric features of the terrain, where, in altitudes above 1,000 m the curvature classes associated with each declivity control the variability of soils. According to the rules of the produced model, soils were digitally mapped using a fuzzy logic via ArcGIS. According to the maps results, Hapludox occur in convex terrains with a declivity of up to 35%; Hapludox associated with Oxic Hapludult occur within the declivity range of 35-45%; Oxic Hapludult predominate within a declivity range of 45-70%; and Hapludept occur on concave slopes with a declivity higher than 70%, where drainage networks are being implemented.
